This overview course will introduce the different types of healthcare captives, highlight the distinctive features of them and focus on the legal/tax issues, claims, and risk management concerns that are specific to healthcare captives.
Topics will include:
- Creating the legal entity
- Structure of the entity
- Tax issues specific to healthcare captives
- Legal/compliance issues
- Understanding risk management concepts
- Enterprise risk management
- Mitigating key risks
- Captive as funding source
- Understanding claims management operations
- Establishing the claims philosophy
- Cost containment
- Resolution strategies / alternatives to litigation
- Tort reform update
