FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Burlington, VT -- The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) closed the summer of 2007 with a successful anniversary celebration and – at the same time – received some great news worthy of celebration.
Late in the summer ICCIE received a donation pledge from Ian Kilpatrick, founder of the Crusader International Group, in the amount of $50,000, to be made in the name of the Insurance Managers' Association of Cayman (IMAC). Not only will this funding be a tremendous boost to ICCIE, but it will also permit several people from Cayman to attend ICCIE on full scholarship.
“The active participation and support from Cayman is especially meaningful to this program because of Cayman’s importance in the captive industry,” said ICCIE Executive Director Mitch Cantor. “Both IMAC and the Cayman regulators have been very supportive of the Associate in Captive Insurance professional designation, and we’re extremely grateful for this generous contribution,” he added.
The IMAC contribution was announced just prior to the annual ICCIE celebration at the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) conference. The August 6th party – which was celebrating the third anniversary of the launch of ICCIE – was an enormous success on several levels.
Thanks to the evening’s sponsors (Aon, Dwight Asset Management, Lippa Insurance Services, Marsh Management Services, Merrill Lynch, Paul Frank & Collins, and TD Banknorth) and donated items for the party’s signature balloon pop event, the anniversary celebration netted nearly $10,000 for ICCIE, which is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit.
In addition, the event honored 12 new ACI recipients. Those receiving the Associate in Captive Insurance certificates were (in alphabetical order):
Mary Ellen Barone (USA Risk Group – unable to attend the event) , Kathryn Boucher (Premier Insurance Services), Martin Burke (Prudential), Patricia Cote (USA Risk Group), Alan Day (TD Banknorth), Jenny Denison (USA Risk Group), Drew Magee, Paul Newton (USA Risk Group), Frank Noyes (Markel Corp.), Sherry Ricker (Marsh Management Services), Anthony Spacciante (Starbuck’s), and David White (AIG).
Congratulations to all the new ACIs!

And finally, ICCIE announced at the VCIA conference opening session the winner of VCIA’s Distinguished Scholar Award – a full scholarship to the ACI designation program, based on demonstrated achievement in the captive insurance industry and service to the community. The award was presented to Lisa Poulin of Milliman, based in Wakefield, MA. Congratulations, Lisa!
