FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It was non-stop action in 3Q, 2010 for The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE), as the organization blazed new trails in several directions while barely stopping to take a breath. The organization hosted events at both the Vermont (VCIA) and S. Carolina (SCCIA) conferences, it rolled out one new course and paved the way for another (soon to debut), it welcomed several new prominent Board members, and announced three new scholarship award winners. And, all the while, enrollments for the quarter beat expectations for both new Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation students and individual-course (modular) students.
The VCIA and SCCIA Events
At VCIA 2010, in August, ICCIE trumpeted the end of its sixth year in style, with its Annual Anniversary Celebration. Despite torrential rains just prior to the event at the Burlington Boathouse, the inclement weather soon blew over, and the sun came out in time to greet the Board and faculty members and other attendees, the ACI diploma recipients, and everyone who participated in ICCIE's trademark balloon pop fundraiser.

A month later, at SCCIA in September, Tristan was the spot where conference attendees came to fete the success of the industry's education arm. In addition to a diploma presentation and networking, ICCIE also held a successful silent auction at the event. Look for ICCIE to return to Tristan next year; mark your calendar now!

Two New Courses:
"Employee Benefits and Captives," and "Captive Board Governance"
In September, ICCIE offered its first session of "Employee Benefits and Captives," taught by Karin Landry and Michael Rosenbaum. Several months in the making, this course addressed a growing area of the captive industry and was well received by its first rotation of students. Another session of the course is already planned for 2011; keep an eye on the ICCIE schedule for details.
In addition, ICCIE Board member John O'Brien has been busy creating the first "Captive Board Governance" course for ICCIE. His co-instructors will be announced later this month, and the course is set to launch in January 2011. But there has already been one terrific sign of interest in the course, though. A "preview" teleconference on Captive Board Governance done as a joint venture between ICCIE and the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council annual conference (in late October), drew a strong crowd of nearly 90 attendees.
