FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) broke new ground in the first half of 2010 as it conferred 32 Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designations - the most it has ever granted in a six-month period. In addition, ICCIE continues in 2010 to create new courses, with two freshly-minted electives to be rolled out in the next six months. Another current highlight is the announcement of several annual scholarship awards to ICCIE, allowing worthy candidates to matriculate tuition-free through the ACI program.
| ACI Graduates
The new group of 2010 ACI graduates includes ICCIE's 150th ACI recipient, as well as students located in 17 U.S. states, Canada, Bermuda, Cayman, Holland, Jordan, and the U.K. With more than 600 enrollments in ICCIE, the number of people earning ACI designations each year is increasing. There should be nearly 200 total ACI designation recipients by the end of 2010. See the end of this press release for a complete list of recent ACI recipients.
|New Educational Offerings
As ICCIE continues to create and offer new courses, fall 2010 will see the first session of its recently-developed elective, Employee Benefits and Captives, led by industry veteran Karin Landry and attorney Michael Rosenbaum. Within a few months, ICCIE will also be offering its first session of Captive Board Governance (spearheaded by John O'Brien).

These offerings join the other 11 classes (five core courses and six electives) available though ICCIE. See the ICCIE website (www.iccie.org) for instructor bios and content details. The Employee Benefits and Captives and Captive Board Governance courses are being developed with the assistance of a Next Generation (Act 46) Grant from the Vermont Department of Labor.
In addition to the above-mentioned courses, ICCIE continues to offer "hot topic" teleconferences in 2010, with Solvency II and Captives slated for presentation on August 31st. That seminar will feature Jonathan Groves, Senior Vice President for Marsh, U.K. and Jeanette Rödbro, head of Captive Management for Schenker AG in Gothenburg, Sweden.

ICCIE will also present a teleconference in conjunction with the Hawaii Captive Insurance Conference (HCIC) in late October, and one additional teleconference by early December to finish out the year.
ICCIE also welcomes Derick White to its faculty. White, now working for Strategic Risk Solutions, was a long-time regulator and former Director of Captive Insurance for the State of Vermont. White will be co-teaching one of ICCIE's core courses, Forming and Operating a Captive with attorney Chaz Lavelle. Sean Rider from Willis' New York office, will also be joining the faculty, co-teaching another core course, Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms.
|ICCIE Scholarships - in Bermuda and Vermont
At the Bermuda Captive Insurance Conference, in late June, the Bermuda Insurance Managers Association (BIMA) announced the recipients of its annual scholarship awards (two full-tuition scholarships) for Bermudians to attend ICCIE. ICCIE Board Member and BIMA representative Phil Barnes announced this year's scholarship winners: Dawnette Darrell from Aon, and Vera Lopes from Charles Taylor Consulting. Barnes announced the winners onstage during the conference's keynote luncheon.

Barnes and ICCIE Executive Director Mitch Cantor also presented diplomas to two recent graduates of the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) program offered by ICCIE: Karen Campbell of HSBC Insurance Management and David Gibbons of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

At the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) annual conference in August, winners will be announced for the VCIA Distinguished Scholar Award (a full-tuition scholarship to ICCIE for a VCIA-member individual) and the Harry House Scholarships (offered by Housing Authority Insurance Group) giving one full-tuition scholarship and one individual-course scholarship to minority students studying risk management at the college or university level. In addition to the "live" announcement of the scholarship winners, the information will be posted on the ICCIE website (www.iccie.org) following the conference.
