August 1, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It's only the beginning of August, but it's already looking like the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) will likely see 2012 as a banner year for activity and growth. Enrollments are nearing the 900 mark, with about 250 graduates of the program - those who have earned the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation. The following are some of the recent and upcoming highlights.
The Newest ICCIE Elective Has Arrived:
"Captive Claims Management Best Practices & Reinsurance"
A ninth ICCIE elective has been finalized and will be taught for the first time in October. Captive Claims Management Best Practices & Reinsurance will be taught by Donna Foti and Pamela Popp, assisted by Vincent Yezzi. The course focuses on the various options for claims management and administration for a captive program and also provides an understanding of the role of the reinsurer and reinsurance needs of a captive. This course was developed in conjunction with a Vermont Workforce Employment and Training grant.
More Webcasting Live From Captive Conferences
Due to increased partnerships with captive and industry conferences, ICCIE has increased the number of hot topic webconferences it is providing. Earlier this year ICCIE webcast a seminar live from the CICA conference, and will be webcasting one of the VCIA sessions next week. Look for future notices of ICCIE webcasts from several of the conferences coming up this fall.
The ICCIE Sustainability Fund
At the beginning of this year the ICCIE Board established the ICCIE Sustainability Fund. The goal of this fund is to provide a layer of financial security to guard against an exceptional temporary downturn in ICCIE enrollments. The three-year fund drive has gotten off to a great start this year, and efforts will continue to add to its success through 2014. If your company is interested in contributing to the long-term stability of the captive industry's education program, please consider contributing to this fund and contact me directly at mitch@iccie.org or 802-651-9051.
Bermuda Insurance Managers' Association (BIMA) ICCIE Scholarship Announced
At this year's Bermuda Captive Conference in June, BIMA presented an award for a full scholarship to ICCIE. This year's scholarship went to Desirae Simons, who is beginning her pursuit of the ACI immediately. Congratulations, Desirae!

Upcoming ICCIE Events
In case you have somehow missed it, ICCIE will be hosting its 8th Annual Anniversary Celebration on August 6th at the Burlington Boathouse during the VCIA conference. This event is the "unofficial" opening of the VCIA conference every year and a great way to reconnect with conference attendees. This year's celebration is sponsored by A.M. Best, Downs Rachlin Martin, Munich Re, and TD Wealth Management.
And, on the evening of September 17th, at the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) conference, ICCIE will hold its 6th Annual Soiree and Silent Auction with event support from Kane. Also a great conference-opening get-together, this event takes place at Barbara Jean's, kitty-corner to Charleston Place, SCCIA's host hotel.
